It may seem as though you recently swapped your wardrobe over from summer to winter, and now you have to do it all over again. Getting your wardrobe summer-ready is exciting as you know that warmer days are ahead.

“Swapping over clothes in your wardrobe is the first sign that the season is changing. Finally, you get to wear something that your friends haven’t seen you in over the past few months, and with summer here it is a welcomed thought that layers are no longer necessary,” explains Mario Correia, brand manager for Personal Touch.

When organising your summer wardrobe, it needs to be done correctly the first time so as not to create fashion chaos down the line. Correia suggests the following tips when changing over:

  1. When you swap your clothes over, this is the time to make decisions. Are you going to wear this item? And when was the last time you wore it? Are questions that you are going to have to ask yourself. There is no need to clog up your wardrobe with outfits that you know you will not be wearing this season. Create the space for something new and donate the rest.
  2. Once you have decided which clothes you will be keeping, make a list of any clothes you may need to get you through the summer. Perhaps a few summer dresses, or how about a pair of shorts for those days lazing in the garden?
  3. Getting your clothes out of storage for summer means that the clothes need to be freshened up. This may seem like a long process, but there is no need to do it all at once. Simply split the piles up and wash what you know you are going to need immediately, and then schedule the other loads. Using an innovative washing power such as Personal Touch Washing Powder Sheets helps keep your clothes clean, while also getting you ready for summer. There is also no need to decide on where you are going to store the washing powder as this 90g box, which is equivalent to 2kg of washing powder, contains compressed washing powder sheets that can handle up to 18 washes. And, it is easy to store.
  4. Pack your winter clothes away where they will be easily accessible, as there may be some cooler days in spring that might require an extra layer. While in storage, to keep your winter clothes smelling good, place a Personal Touch fabric softener refill with your clothes. Also make sure to choose a spot that isn’t warm or musty to avoid mildew and insects.
  5. Hanging up your clothes on plastic hangers can cause more delicate materials to become misshapen. Try swap out those hangers for thinner, velvet ones so that your clothes remain the shape they are meant to be.

“By planning in advance and having everything you need for summer will give you the peace of mind that you are summer ready,” comments Correia. “And what better partner to have along for the journey than one that knows how to care for your clothes with the extra personal touch.”
