The EmpowerHer Seminar returned in spectacular fashion this year, transforming the Inanda Club in Johannesburg into a vibrant hub of inspiration, leadership and sisterhood. From the moment guests walked through the doors, the atmosphere pulsed with purpose — a gathering of women redefining power, influence and legacy in bold, unforgettable ways.
With the theme “Women: The Boldest Strokes of Colour,” this year’s event celebrated the courage, brilliance and resilience of women who show up fully in every area of their lives. It was more than a conference; it was a living canvas of authentic stories, shared wisdom and the undeniable force of women rising together.

A Warm Welcome Into a Space of Possibility
The day began with the graceful presence of Zozibini Tunzi, former Miss Universe 2019, who hosted the event with her signature warmth and poise. Her voice carried a message of hope and confidence, inviting women to lean into the conversations that would unfold.
Nomzamo Mbatha on Sisterhood and Legacy
Founder Nomzamo Mbatha delivered one of the day’s most heartfelt moments as she reflected on the evolution of EmpowerHer.
“Five years ago, we dreamt of creating a safe, sacred space where women could celebrate one another — and today, we witnessed that dream in full colour,” she shared. This year’s theme, The Power of 50, honoured fifty women-owned businesses making remarkable strides in their industries. For Mbatha, that impact is deeply personal.
“To be part of EmpoweringHER is to witness strength, grace, and brilliance in action,” said Tunzi. “Today reminded us that the future is female — and it is already here.”
Founder Nomzamo Mbatha expressed deep gratitude to sponsors, speakers, and honourees for shaping an event that has become a cornerstone of women’s empowerment in South Africa.
“The Power of 50 is about legacy, sisterhood, and transformation,” said Mbatha. “We dreamed of creating a sacred space for women, and today, that dream bloomed in full colour.”
“What keeps me going is seeing women we’ve supported thrive,” she added. “When your name can help catapult someone else’s business, that is legacy. That is purpose.”

Conversations That Shifted the Room
The seminar’s panel discussions, moderated by the ever-engaging Nozipho Tshabalala, were among the most powerful parts of the day. Each session sparked deep introspection and trended across social media — a testament to the resonance of the messages shared.
Sponsor vs Mentor: Who’s Really Making Room for You?
This standout conversation featured two formidable minds: Dr. Vumi Msweli and Dr. Thebe Ikalafeng. Together, they explored the crucial differences between mentorship and sponsorship. Dr. Msweli emphasised that while mentorship shapes a woman’s journey, it is sponsorship that accelerates her ascent. Dr. Ikalafeng echoed the sentiment, calling women to strategically position themselves and create undeniable value.
Courage, Resilience and Knowing Your Why
Other panels delivered equally profound insights:
- The Boldest Boundary Panel, featuring Ndia Magadagela and Ipeleng Mkhari, explored resilience through adversity and the art of leading with courage.
- Unmasking the Brand, with Sheldon Tatchel and Mathebe Ngwenya, dived into authenticity, encouraging women to build businesses rooted in truth and purpose.
Reflecting on the day, Tshabalala shared:
“Every woman in this room was both a student and a teacher. That’s the true spirit of EmpowerHer.”

Voices of Women Rising
Attendees left not only inspired but equipped with clarity, courage and renewed intention. One attendee, Lesego Mphe, shared: “My key takeaway is that it’s okay to fail and it’s okay to pause. Embrace it — then come back stronger.”
Media personality Lerato Kganyago-Ndlala offered a message that struck a chord with many:
“I love events like these that remind us who we are, our purpose and how far we can go together. Distractions will come, but always stand up and remember your purpose. Have a vision — forward we go.”
A Movement Beyond the Room
What made the EmpowerHer Seminar unforgettable is that it extended far beyond the walls of the venue. It was a movement — a vivid reminder that when women step into rooms armed with confidence and clarity, they do more than take up space.
