Politics for me is just a dirty game, yet it is a great determinant of our lifestyle and the regime. Whether I like it or not, it affects a great portion of my life. Do I continue to turn a blind eye and pretend that it doesn’t affect me? Or should I start being inclined towards taking part in the process and exercising the power to must make my voice heard.

It’s always easy for us to say that we are not politically inclined; yet, politics forms an integral part of our everyday lives. I’m saying this because I’m one of those who doesn’t care much about it, yet, we eat and sleep politics. Where we live is political and how we dress is political. Therefore it is important to be part of the process that influences our fate.

I’m not saying be politically crazy, but, be involved. Know what you want and what kind of life you want for you, your kids and the future generations to have. Being politically inclined is not about what’s happening now; it’s about you making and leaving a legacy for those still to come.

Unfortunately, I’m not one who can talk much about where we have come from, as a country, as I did not live in that time where I could bear witness, but from what we are told, it’s clear that our great grandparents strived for us to be where we are today. I think that it would be great ignorance on our side to forsake the history altogether and to focus on what we have today, and thus thinking that all is and will be well. History is not there to decorate our libraries but knowing where you come from will ultimately help you make informed decisions, going forward.

Our leaders died for us to have the freedom that we have today, I’m not trying to force you into a specific party, but in everything that we do we must be mindful to never allow the blood that was shed for us to be in vain.

Politically inclined or not?
What to look for when choosing a party? I may not have an answer for you on this one. However, I believe it should be done early. During the time of manifestos all that the politicians sell are dreams. They know exactly what appeals to us. The unfortunate part is, it doesn’t end at the polls. Once you have put your president into power what will happen next? That is why we don’t need to get emotional as far as politics is concerned, but rather that we sober-up and think of the future.
